Premier League giants Liverpool have been in scintillating form this season, pushing for a second place finish in the league, and fighting zealously for a Champions League trophy too.

Despite their success, midfielder Emre Can’s contract negotiations have stalled, and there has been a lot of talk about a potential move to Juventus for the German international.

That idea had just been a rumour, but last night Steven Gerrard seemed to confirm that Can was indeed leaving during his punditry on BT Sport. As the Liverpool Echo reports, the Anfield legend said, “We’ll have to see what happens. Emre Can is leaving but Keita is coming in.”

The comments came after Liverpool’s impressive 0-5 dismantling of Porto in the first leg of the two sides’ last-16 clash in the Champions League. Can didn’t feature in that game, but has established himself as a stalwart in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield over the past few seasons.

With two goals and three assists from his relatively deep-lying midfield position, Can has had a big impact for the Reds, who have scored a whopping 61 league goals this season.

They currently find themselves just two points behind second place Manchester United, and a high league finish, coupled with a good run in the Champions League, might convince the German to stay.
