Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn turned 18 this week and the talented forward has been rewarded for the positive start to his senior career with an improved contract, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Woodburn has exploded onto the scene in recent months and has impressed both domestically and on the international stage. The Wales international earned his first cap for the national team on 2nd September, coming on as a substitute in the second half of Wales’ World Cup qualifying game against Austria. The youngster went on to score a sensational goal, handing his side a 1-0 win and keeping their qualification hopes alive. Wales ultimately went on to miss out on a place in Russia next summer but the bright spark provided by Woodburn will be one of the positives that Chris Coleman can take from the campaign.

At Liverpool the forward’s success is equally palpable and the teenager has now featured ten times at senior level for the Merseyside club. Woodburn became the club’s youngest ever scorer when he came of the bench to bag a late goal in the quarterfinal of the EFL Cup against Leeds. The youngster’s meteoric rise resulted in a European Golden Boy 2017 nomination and there is plenty more to come from Woodburn in the future.
